Promotion To Power African Domain Registrations In 2019

The ZA Central Registry (ZACR) prepares to launch the new Asante Africa Promotion in 2019, their way of saying “thank you” to all their Registrar and Reseller (RaR) partners for their role in growing Africa’s only 4 gTLDs.

The ZA Central Registry (ZACR) is preparing to launch a game- changing promotion on the only four African geographic Top Level Domain (gTLD) namely: dot africa; dotjoburg; dotcapetown and dotdurban. The promotion is coined the Asante Promotion, based on a Swahili expression “Asante Sana” which means “thank you very much”. It is the ZACR’s way of thanking their Registrar and Reseller (RaR) partners, for the role that they have played in the growth of the African gTLDs over the past years.

Asante Promotion

The Asante Promotion is set to kick start in in February 2019 and it is an opportunity for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) accredited RaRs to offer their customers incredible value for the acquisition of prime African cyber real estate.

“With the Asante Promotion we want to take the opportunity to thank our RaRs for enabling Africa to emerge as the Bright Continent through African gTLD’s domain name registrations,” says Lucky Masilela, CEO of ZACR. “There are currently over 27 500 registered .africa, .joburg, .capetown and .durban domain names thanks to their hard work”.

“Triple R” model

Mr Masilela asserts that the success of ZACR administered domains comes down to utilising the globally proven “Triple R” model which was adopted by the local domain name sector in 2010 with great success. The Triple R Model is based on the separation of functions and responsibilities by the Regulator the Registry Operator and the Registrar.

“ZACR has grown South Africa’s .ZA presence on the worldwide web significantly over the past few yeas. The .ZA namespace has recently surpassed1.2 million-domain registrations. We have the experience, the technical ability and the best people to achieve similar success for Africa’s home on the web, as well as for the three South African cities’ web presence,” commented Mr Masilela.

Africa’s leading Registry Operator

As Africa’s leading Registry Operator with the biggest share of individual domains under management, the ZACR believes that its RaR partners have played an integral part in continuing to connect individuals; businesses and organisations in Africa with the world.

“Let’s continue to take ownership of our African gTLDs by working hard to help make the Asante Promotion an African domain name highlight of 2019,” Mr Masilela added.

ZACR has a solid history of pioneering achievements within the domain name sector and the Asante Promotion is no exception. Members of the public are encouraged to contact their preferred ISPs for more information on the Asante Promotion.
